NATURAL WAYS TO CURE MIGRAINE HEADACHE
Migraine can be cure naturally???
What is migraine?
Migraine path physiology has been evolved; in the scientific arena migraine is primarily a vascular or neurological dysfunction. This concept must be transcended by thinking beyond the neural and vascular systems and by identifying mechanisms that might affect both to provide the characteristic clinical phenomena of migraine.
In simpler terms, we will say that migraine is intense, debilitating headaches which may occur frequently in peoples affected by migraine. People describe migraine pain as throbbing, perforating, pulsating, pounding, and debilitating. It also can desire a severe dull, steady ache. The pain may start as mild; Migraine pain most ordinarily affects the forehead area. It usually starts on one side of the top, but it can occur on each side or can shift but without treatment will become moderate to severe. It’s a condition that will cause multiple symptoms like nausea, vomiting, difficulty speaking, numbness or tingling, and sensitivity to light and sound.
Symptoms of migraine-
The migraine symptoms start with an initial stage known as prodrome stage where people feel symptoms like
1. Neck stiffness,
2. Irritability,
3. Tiredness,
4. Lack of energy,
5. Fatigue, etc.
After passing these stages one enters into the next stage known as migraine with aura and may have problems with your vision, sensation, movement, and speech. Like
1. Difficulty speaking
2. Prickling or tingling sensation in your face, arms, or legs
3. Seeing shapes, light flashes, or bright spots
4. Temporarily losing your vision
Next comes the attack phase. This is the foremost acute or severe of the phases when the particular migraine pain occurs. In some people, this will overlap or occur during an aura. Symptoms can last anywhere from hours to days.
1. increased sensitivity to light and sound
2. Nausea
3. Dizziness or feeling faint
4. Pain on one side of your head, either on the left side, right side, front, or back, or in your temples
5. Pulsing and throbbing head pain
6. Vomiting
What causes migraines?
There are many causes that can trigger migraine pain. Some of the factors like serotonin theory and calcitonin play a role in migraine but the researches are still going on these theories. Major factors like genetics and environmental changes may also play a role in triggering a migraine. Some other factors that can be included and can bring changes like-
1. Sensory stimuli, Bright lights, and sun glare can induce migraines, as can loud sounds. Strong smells — including perfume, paint thinner, smoke et al. — trigger migraines in some people.
2. Stress. Stress at work or home can cause migraines. Stress can play a major role in disturbing the body on all the levels disturbing the neurological function to an emotional level.
3. Sleep changes. Missing sleep, getting an excessive amount of sleep or fatigue can trigger migraines in some people.
4. Foods like cheeses, salty and processed foods might trigger migraines. So might skipping meals or fasting.
5. Weather changes. A change of weather or atmospheric pressure can prompt a migraine.
6. Hormonal changes in women. Fluctuations in estrogen levels, like before or during menstrual periods, pregnancy and menopause, seem to trigger headaches in many ladies.
Management of Migraine
Diet and nutrition
As migraines can be so debilitating and it affects the daily activities of an individual. As food can be one of the causes triggering migraine pains it can be beneficial to identify and avoid potential triggers. For some people, migraine triggers can include specific foods or sorts of food.
Conversely, some foods may reduce the frequency of migraine headaches or lessen their symptoms. While there is no definitive “migraine diet,” people may be able to reduce their migraines by monitoring what they eat by adopting a healthy lifestyle.
• Ginger kashaya for relieving vat type of headache. Ginger helps reduce nausea and vomiting and severe headaches as it contain antioxidants and anti-inflammatory properties.

• Dried or cooked fruits, particularly non-citrus kinds like cherries and cranberries.
• Magnesium deficiency is one of the main causes of frequent migraine or headaches. Magnesium is an important mineral necessary for the proper functioning of the body especially in nerve transmission and it can be added into the diet in the form of dates, avocados, almonds, cashews, Brazil nuts, legumes, seeds, bananas, leafy greens.
• B-complex vitamins contain all eight of the B vitamins and are the best way to treat headache symptoms naturally.
• One must minimize your exposure to nitrites, as it is mainly found in processed foods. Limit the number of processed meats in your diet, and choose nitrate-free products whenever possible.
• Low blood sugar aggravates headache, so eat regular meals.
• Avoid Foods High in Histamine. It’s also found in certain foods like aged cheeses, fermented food, beer, wine, smoked fish and cured meats.
Hydrotherapy
Hydrotherapy was discovered by Vincent Priessnitz and was studied by Father Kneipp. Kneipp wrote My Water Cure in 1882 which explained the principles of hydrotherapy and the way it's used as a cure for several ailments. Hydrotherapy uses the properties of water, alternating from hot to cold, to stimulate the body's life force to heal. Hydrotherapy stimulates the system, improves the circulation of blood and lymph, and inevitably, promotes healing.
Why does Hydrotherapy work?
Migraines cause the blood vessels in your head to get bigger. Just as more water can flow through a hose versus a straw, more blood is being circulated to your head. This can contribute to the throbbing sensation in the form of headaches.
Cold water causes your blood vessels to shrink and move deeper into your skin. This is your body's innate response to help keep your body warm. Therefore, the cold towel applied to the neck/head area will work to form the blood vessels smaller.
Hot water on your feet will do the exact opposite of the cold water on your head/neck. Hot water causes your blood vessels to become bigger, and thus, more blood circulates right down to your feet.
In conclusion, the cold water pushes the blood away from your head and the warm water signals for it to come down to your feet. This helps relieve migraines and headaches.
· Flowers of Mehndi or henna can be applied as a plaster on the forehead sit in hot sun for get full benefits
· Cinnamon paste can be applied on forehead if headache is due to cold.
· Hot foot immersion for 15- 20 min in a day.
· Alternate spinal compress
· Cold compress on forehead
· Hot fomentation on abdomen
· Ice massage to head for 3-5 min. if headaches are due to fluctuation in blood pressure.
Cold Compress to the head, spine, and abdomen is described below with explained procedure. The compress should be re-applied every 1-3 minutes for satisfactory results
The procedure of compresses.-
• Wet the folded towel or cloth with cold water. Hold hands to feel how cold the water is while applied.
• Apply to face over eyes and to temples including the brows and other parts like your stomach area or spine. CAUTION: lightly
• As soon as comfortable, redo the procedure once the cloth loses all its cold properties rapidly. Repeat as rapidly as necessary. Continue the procedure for 3 minutes by the clock.
• Repeat the cold cycle three times. This is one full treatment.
• The longer the course of the treatment, the more satisfactory its results are obtained do it minimum of 10-15 min.
CONTRAINDICATION- cold application of all sorts to the spine are contraindicated in most cases of spinal irritation and in loco motor ataxia in which lightning pains or gastric crises are present and also in cases of loss of sensations such as severe diabetic conditions.
Yoga
Yoga is an ancient technique that promotes holistic health through a mix of asana and pranayamas and kriya techniques. Yoga helps you make resistance against migraine better and should not be used as an alternative to medication. It’s recommended to continue your medication until your doctor advises otherwise. Yoga may be a side-effect-free method to fight migraines. Practicing these simple yoga postures for a couple of minutes a day will help prepare you better for subsequent migraine attack: Overall, yoga improved the cardiac autonomic balance. Disturbances in the autonomic nervous system and in the regulation of the circulatory system are associated with migraines. If balance is restored, the likelihood of a migraine is reduced.
· Kriyas:- jalaneti, Kunjal kriya
- Cooling and balancing pranayamas- nadhishudhi,, bhahmari ,sheetali, sheetkari, sadanta.
- Meditation
- Asanas- Sukshma vyayama
· Hastapadasana (Standing Forward Bend)
· Setu Bandhasana (Bridge Pose)
· Shishuasana (Child Pose)
· Marjariasana (Cat Stretch)
· Paschimottanasana (Two-legged Forward Bend)
· Adho Mukha Svanasana (Downward Facing Dog Pose)
· Padmasana (Lotus Pose)
· Shavasana (Corpse Pose)
Yoga can help in treating migraines by calming the mind and relaxing the blood vessels. According to me, the Brahmri Pranayyam or the Honey Bee Pose is one of the best exercises to treat a headache. It is essentially a breathing technique where the humming sound vibrations tend to soothe the nerves around the brain and forehead. It is a very easy pose where you place your index fingers in both your ears. Place your fingers on the cartilage. Breathe in, breathe out, gently press the cartilage of your throat, and make a humming sound like a bee. Try to make a high-pitched sound and repeat this pattern 3-4 times by practicing yoga and other pranayamas and kriya daily will give the best results in treating migraine naturally without any medications and their side effects.
Acupuncture
Acupuncture reduces the frequency of headache in individuals with migraine, and that the effect may be similar to that observed with preventive medications. The frequency of headache is dropped by 50% or more in up to 59% of people receiving acupuncture and this effect can persist for quite 6 months. Acupuncture is supposed to stay the energy flow (called “qi”) balanced along the meridians. Placing needles at specific pressure points, usually along a person’s back or neck where they can slow pain transmission. Sometimes, a mild head massage accompanies the location of the needles. The treatment takes about an hour, and patients are advised to undergo a minimum of six sessions, usually once every week. The acupuncturist may also suggest dietary changes.
Some of the major points to treat migraine include-
• Taiyang (Extra 1) it promotes the circulation of anti-pathogenic qi in the affected region.
• Shuaigu (GB 8) it is useful in treating temporal region headaches due to qi stagnation.
• Touwei (ST 8) it dispels Wind, relieves pain and migraine.
• Hegu (LI 4) Diseases of the head and face: i.e. external pathogenic headache like a migraine.
Acupuncture can effectively treat migraines through a mixture of selected local scalp points combined with distal points located on the affected meridians. Treating migraine conditions with acupuncture can bring balance in yin and yang, strengthen qi, and eliminate pathogenic factors which cause migraine in the first place.
